Chemical spill closes Atlanta Downtown Connector.

The Atlanta Downtown Connector, which connects Interstate Highways I-75 and I-85 in the city, was closed for part of the morning of Monday 17 April 2017, after a truck carrying 570 litres of benzoyl chloride overturned following a collision with an SUV slightly after 3.30 am local time. The southbound section of the road reopened at about 6.30 am, while the northbound section remained closed till about 10.00 am. The Atlanta Police Department report that the vehicle should not have been on the road, as vehicles of this nature not having business inside the city are supposed to bypass it on the city's perimeter road.
